ADAC Passenger Survey Reveal The Attractiveness Of Abu Dhabi As A Tourism Destination
(3 October 2012)

Abu Dhabi Airports Company released the results of the ADAC Passenger Survey during the 18th World Route Development Forum (World Routes), the largest and only global annual meeting for aviation professionals from around the world.

The passenger survey comes as another leading initiative from ADAC as it is the only comprehensive passenger analysis available from an airport in the region.

The ADAC Passenger Survey provides exclusive and detailed information about the Abu Dhabi market not readily available from other sources. The survey analyses data relating to passengers travelling through Abu Dhabi International Airport, including demographics, travel flow, booking and travelling profiles, purchasing behavior - all of which can assist airlines to get an in-depth picture and understanding of the Abu Dhabi market. Moreover, this market intelligence offers useful insight to local stakeholders in the transport and tourism sectors for tailoring strategies and initiatives based on the profile of the airport’s passengers.

George Karamanos, Vice President Corporate Marketing & Communication at ADAC, commented: "The ADAC Passenger Survey was launched to assist current and future aviation partners to realize the opportunities that exist in the Abu Dhabi marketplace. It is a unique tool which provides airlines and other aviation and tourism-related entities with hard data on passenger profiles and preferences." "ADAC will be sharing the findings of this survey with all stakeholders that will benefit from the collected findings, especially when drafting future planning and development strategies." Among the findings of the survey, it is worth noting: 93 per cent of passengers evaluate Abu Dhabi positively and very positively as a tourism destination, 94 per cent of the passengers would like to visit Abu Dhabi for one of their future vacations, 50 per cent of passengers are residents in the Middle East, and ticket price and convenience of travel are the two key parameters of how Abu Dhabi International Airport passengers choose their airlines and flights.

The Survey was initiated in May 2011, and took place at Abu Dhabi International Airport 365 days a year on a 24-hour basis. To date, more than 45,000 passengers have been interviewed.
